Sandy Trail
Medium: Watercolor Batik on Japanese Rice paper, mounted on a cradled wood panel and sealed with an acid free wax sealer. Painting Size: 14" x 18" A sandy path works its way through the sunlit forest between two tree-covered hills. This painting was created using the ancient method of Batik, which is a process using hot wax that is applied to the paper in order to resist the subsequent layers of paint. Paint and wax are applied in alternate layers until the piece is finished, and then the wax is melted off, leaving a unique piece of art not possible using traditional watercolor methods.
